Masturbation checks prostate cancer?

Posted by mynation on 30th April 2008

Frequent masturbation may help men cut their risk of contracting prostate cancer, Australian researchers have found. It is believed that carcinogens may build up in the prostate if men do not ejaculate regularly, BBC News reported on Wednesday.

The researchers surveyed more than 1,000 men who had developed prostate cancer, and 1,250 men who had not. They found that men who had ejaculated the most between the ages of 20 and 50 were the least likely to get cancer. Men who ejaculated more than five times each week were a third less likely to develop prostate cancer.

Sexual intercourse may not have the same effect because of the higher risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, which could in turn raise the risk of cancer. “Had we been able to remove ejaculations associated with sexual intercourse, there should have been an even stronger protective effect of ejaculations,” Graham Giles of the Cancer Council Victoria, who led the researchers, said in the article.

The prostate produces a fluid that is incorporated into ejaculation, which activates sperm and prevents them from sticking together. Studies on animals have shown that carcinogens

like 3-methylchloranthrene can be harboured in the prostate. Frequent ejaculation encourages the cancer-inducing fluids to “flush out.”

Four Wives - Moral of the Story…

Posted by mynation on 15th April 2008

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He’s very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant’s confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems,he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant’s 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, “Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I’ll be alone. How lonely I’ll be!”

Thus, he asked the 4th wife, “I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?” “No way!” replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.

The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant’s heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, “I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?” “No!” replied the 3rd wife. “Life is so good over here! I’m going to remarry when you die!” The merchant’s heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, “I always turned to you for help and you’ve always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?” “I’m sorry, I can’t help you out this time!” replied the 2nd wife. “At the very most, I can only send you to your grave.” The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out : “I’ll leave with you. I’ll follow you no matter where you go.” The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, “I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !”

Moral :

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives

a. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it’ll leave us when we die.

b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we’re alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it’s a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we’re on our deathbed to lament.

Why Beautiful Women Marry Less Attractive Men

Posted by mynation on 10th April 2008

Women seeking a lifelong mate might do well to choose the guy a notch below them in the looks category. New research reveals couples in which the wife is better looking than her husband are more positive and supportive than other match-ups.

The reason, researchers suspect, is that men place great value on beauty, whereas women are more interested in having a supportive husband.

Researchers admit that looks are subjective, but studies show there are some universal standards, including large eyes, “baby face” features, symmetric faces, so-called average faces, and specific waist-hip ratios in men versus women.

Past research has shown that individuals with comparable stunning looks are attracted to each other and once they hook up they report greater relationship satisfaction. These studies, however, are mainly based on new couples, showing that absolute beauty is important in the earliest stages of couple-hood, said lead researcher James McNulty of the University of Tennessee. But the role of physical attractiveness in well-established partnerships, such as marriage, is somewhat of a mystery.

The new study, published in the February issue of the Journal of Family Psychology, reveals looks continue to matter beyond that initial attraction, though in a different way.

Supportive spouses

McNulty’s team assessed 82 couples who had married within the previous six months and had been together for nearly three years prior to tying the knot. Participants were on average in their early to mid-20s.

Researchers videotaped as each spouse discussed with their partner a personal problem for 10 minutes. The tapes were analyzed for whether partners were supportive of spouses’ issues, which included goals to eat healthier, to land a new job and to exercise more often.

“A negative husband would’ve said, ‘This is your problem, you deal with it,’” McNulty said, “versus ‘Hey, I’m here for you; what do you want me to do?; how can I help you?’”

A group of trained “coders” rated the facial attractiveness of each spouse on a scale from 1 to 10, with the perfect 10 representing the ultimate babe. About a third of the couples had a more attractive wife, a third a more attractive husband and the remaining partners showed matching looks.

Trophy wives

Overall, wives and husbands behaved more positively when the woman was better looking.

The finding “seems very reasonable,” said Dan Ariely, a professor of behavioral economics at MIT’s Program in Media Arts and Sciences and Sloan School of Management. “Men are very sensitive to women’s attractiveness. Women seem to be sensitive to men’s height and salary,” said Ariely, who was not involved in the recent study.

In couples with more attractive husbands, both partners were less supportive of one another. McNulty suggests wives mirror, in some ways, the level of support they get from husbands.

“The husband who’s less physically attractive than his wife is getting something more than maybe he can expect to get,” McNulty told LiveScience. “He’s getting something better than he’s providing at that level. So he’s going to work hard to maintain that relationship.”

Men who are more attractive than their partners would theoretically have access to partners who are more attractive than their current spouses, McNulty said. The “grass could be greener” mentality could make these men less satisfied and less committed to maintain the marriage.

Physical attractiveness of husbands is not as important to women, the researchers suggest. Rather, wives are looking for supportive husbands, they say.

So it seems the mismatch in looks is actually a perfect match. “Equitable is unlikely to mean the same on every dimension,” Ariely said during a telephone interview. “It just means that overall two people make sense together.”

Sex takes 3 to 13 minutes : study

Posted by mynation on 5th April 2008

Sex Therapists: A Few Minutes Is Fine
Survey Shows Therapists Say 3-13 Minutes Is Optimal For Sexual Intercourse

Maybe men had it right all along: It doesn’t take long to satisfy a woman in bed. A survey of sex therapists concluded the optimal amount of time for sexual intercourse was 3 to 13 minutes. The findings, to be published in the May issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, strike at the notion that endurance is the key to a great sex life.

If that sounds like good news to you, don’t cheer too loudly. The time does not count foreplay, and the therapists did rate sexual intercourse that lasts from 1 to 2 minutes as “too short.”

Researcher Eric Corty said he hoped to ease the minds of those who believe that “more of something good is better, and if you really want to satisfy your partner, you should last forever.”

The questions were not gender-specific, said Corty (who, it must be noted, is male). But he said prior research has shown that both men and women want foreplay and sexual intercourse to last longer.

Dr. Irwin Goldstein, editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, cited a four-week study of 1,500 couples in 2005 that found the median time for sexual intercourse was 7.3 minutes. (Women were armed with stopwatches.)

It’s difficult for both older men and young men to make sexual intercourse last much longer, said Marianne Brandon, a clinical psychologist and director of Wellminds Wellbodies in Annapolis, Md.

“There are so many myths in our culture of what other people are doing sexually,” Brandon said. “Most people’s sex lives are not as exciting as other people think they are.”

Fifty members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research in the U.S. and Canada were surveyed by Corty, an associate professor of psychology at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and student Jenay Guardiani. Thirty-four members, or 68 percent, responded, although some said the optimal time depended on the couple.

Corty said he hoped to give an idea of what therapists find to be normal and satisfactory among the couples they see.

“People who read this will say, ‘I last five minutes or my partner lasts 8 minutes,’ and say, ‘That’s OK,’” he said. “They will relax a little bit.”

And they lived happily… but only for four years

London: If a new research is to be believed, the adage — and they lived happily ever after — may not be true. Married bliss lasts only for about four years for most women, says a new study.
A team of researchers at the Princeton University has found that beyond a period of four years, the benefits of marriage are often outweighed by having less time to see friends and a larger household workload.
“People have very high expectations, and marriage does not necessarily live up to them,” lead researcher Daniel Kahneman was quoted by British newspaper the Daily Telegraph as saying.
On the contrary, according to him, those who stay single are more likely to feel lonely and have less sex, they have greater freedom, more time to socialise and fewer chores. Kahneman’s findings, presented at the recent British Psychological Society Conference in Dublin, are based on a study of more than 10,000 women, known as the German Socio-Economic Panel. The latest study came just days after a research by an American team revealed that wedded bliss is linked to lower blood pressure in couples.
The US study, published in the Annals of Behavioural Medicine, sampled 303 healthy men and women, and 204 married and 99 singletons. It found that married people had larger dips in blood pressure during sleep than others.
“People whose blood pressure does not dip during sleep are at higher risk for cardio-vascular disease,” the study’s lead author Julianne Holt-Lunstad of Brigham Young University had said.
It seems now one doesn’t have to wait for the seventh year for “the itch” to begin. With the spark extinguishing in the fourth year, the inclination to become unfaithful could start pretty soon.

One-year-old boy married to dog in Orissa

Posted by mynation on 24th March 2008

Bhubaneswar: Driven by superstition, the family of a one-year-old boy married him off to a dog to keep him free from diseases all his life in Orissa’s tribal-dominated Jagatsinghpur district.

The wedding was organised at Munda Sahi of Jagatsinghpur town, only 30 meters away from the district collector’s residence.

District Collector Dr PK Meherda said that the incident could be the outcome of the tribal belief.

The infant groom was identified as Sipu, son of Radha Mohan Singh and the six-month-old canine bride was named Moti. The dog was attired in a yellow saree, while the groom was sitting next to her.

A tribal priest performed the rituals in the presence cheering villagers.

The boy’s father said he decided to marry off his son to a dog in the belief that this would ensure disease free life of him.

“This is not new in tribal society. We do it when the male infant gets his first tooth,” Singh said adding that he would look after both his son as well as his daughter-in-law.

Guests were invited for a feast after the wedding.

A visibly happy groom’s mother Gita Singh said that she would feed her bahu (daughter-in-law) like a child.

“The female canine will ward off all evils from my son,” she said.

The canine bride was fed with a bread and pieces of mutton while the boy was given a feeding bottle containing milk.

A radio set, a gold ring and other household articles were also given as dowry to the groom.

woman has sex with wrong man, thinking husband.

Posted by mynation on 19th March 2008

KUALAL LUMPUR - A Malaysian woman who mistakenly had sex with a houseguest, believing him to be her husband, has complained to police that she was raped, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

With her husband away at work, the 40-year-old housewife in Malaysia’s northeastern state of Terengganu went to bed early on Friday morning, after hectic preparations for celebrations the next day to end the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

About an hour later, she felt a man next to her and proceeded to make love to him, although she did not see his face, the New Straits Times newspaper said.

When the woman’s 34-year-old husband walked into the room a short while afterwards, she was surprised to see him in his work clothes, and only realised her error when he questioned her about a man he had seen walking out of the room, the paper said.

Police have arrested the couple’s friend, a 29-year-old labourer who has been staying with them for the past couple of months, and are investigating the case as a rape.

Desperate Asian women faking virginity in Britain

Posted by mynation on 4th March 2008

London, March 4 (IANS) Some Asian women in Britain are going to great lengths to fake their virginity, driven to desperation by concepts of ‘honour’ in a community where myths about their first sexual experience is still widely held, an Asian radio station reported.

If found to have sex before marriage, the lives of some young Asian women can be at risk and they can be driven away from their homes, experts and community workers told the BBC Asian Network documentary “Like a Virgin”, broadcast Monday.

As a result, desperate young women are using fake blood and even going in for reconstructive surgery to fake their virginity, the investigative radio documentary reported.

In an echo of social attitudes held in many parts of the Indian subcontinent, the programme found that most of the 17 to 21 year old men interviewed in the region of West Midlands - home to a large number of Asians - preferred women to be virgins at marriage.

Concepts of ‘izzat’ - or honour - are strongly held among some conservative Asian communities in Britain and have been linked not only to the practice of forced marriage but also, in some cases, the murder of young women.

An adviser formerly with the national sexual health charity Brook said she personally received requests for information on faking virginity on a daily basis from young Asian women - and that she provided the information because she feared for the safety of these women.

She said: “They would sometimes come in to the centre because they were concerned about the fact that maybe they had had unprotected sex with a boyfriend and they were concerned about whether other men would know they had had sex before and were not a virgin.

“The discussions would then go around some of the myths around virginity… that girls bleed on the first time of having sexual intercourse. So we were able to say, ‘lots of girls don’t’.

“The problem is that lots of men and lots of people within the (Asian) community believe that that is true, and therefore they (young women) are very concerned that they will get married and they won’t bleed and their husband will believe they weren’t a virgin at marriage and all the problems that that would cause them in life.”

She said women were using red dye and mock blood that can be bought from novelty shops that they inserted into their vaginas or spread on the bed sheet after having sex. One Pakistani woman said she knew someone who had used a bottle of red ink - and got away with it. “Her mother-in-law was very happy,” said the woman.

Underlining the seriousness of the issue, the adviser said she agreed to provide information on how to fake virginity because “for some young women the risks to them and their personal safety were so great that if they were not able to fake it then the consequences could have been dire.”"

A community worker who works with young Asians in west London said some girls have had to flee their homes and go into shelter “because their life is on the line. Somebody may have found out”.

Linda Cardozo, a gynaecologist at Kings College Hospital in London, said some desperate Asian women were seeking reconstructive hymen-repair surgery, but that it was “quite difficult to achieve” the repair because there may not always be enough tissues to bring together.

In any case, there was no guarantee that the woman would bleed.

“The main aim of hymen repair is to bleed on wedding night, but of course there are many women who don’t bleed on their wedding night, whether they are virgins or not.

“This is because the hymen may be very stretchy, they may have used tampons for menstruation, they may have had lot of exercise and subtle tissues and therefore there are many women who have their first intercourse without bleeding at all.

“So there’s no guarantee these women will achieve the aim they set out to achieve,” the doctor added.

Although some 24 such repairs had been performed in the state health sector, the vast majority of such surgeries are thought to take place in the private sector, which each surgery costs between 1,500 and 2,000 pounds. ($3,000-4,000)
